OUR OLIVE GROVE
A Three-Generation Legacy
Our olive grove
Located at the foot of Mount Pangaion, our olive grove spans approximately 3,000 olive trees and has been nurtured through three generations of family tradition. This rich heritage not only reflects our commitment to quality olive oil production but also emphasizes sustainable farming practices that honor the land and its history. Each tree represents a part of our family's legacy, connecting us to the past while fostering a sustainable future for the next generation.
Father Demetrios
My grandfather, Father Demetrios Koutsikos, along with his father Georgios from Moustheni village, planted the first olive trees on the slopes of Mount Pangaion.
1950
The grove in the 70s
In the 1970s, the grove consisted of approximately 1,000 trees of the Halkidiki and Megaron varieties.
1970
The Harvest
Each year, the olive harvest was a celebration, with family and friends all coming together to participate. On average, the grove produced 2 to 3 tons of olive oil each year.
1980
The end of an Era
The olive grove remained operational until 2010, when Father Demetrios passed away, after which it was abandoned for over a decade. Upon visiting my family’s grove after many years, I found it in a dreadful condition, which inspired me to revive our family tradition.
2010
Cleared the land
In the first year, we cleared and flattened the land to prepare for planting new trees. We also pruned the old trees to help them revive.
2022
Irrigation system
We installed an irrigation system with underground pipes to enhance our harvest and support our trees during the summer months.
2023
Planted 2000 new trees
We have planted 2,000 new trees. Our mission is to expand the grove by planting 300 additional trees each year and to transform the wheat valley into a green forest.
